- I have a freind who wants to install a modem that does fax/voice and data. We have
- gone around n round on this. I think it is a waist of money. He wants to have the
- speakerphone and voiemail caller id etc. He thinks he can just buy a data fax
- voice modem and he'll be set- I say he'll also need a microphone, a soundcard that
- has a modem feature connector , and software to do what he wants- even if he buys
- a package that has the software and mic and modem, won't he still need a soundcard
- that will let him be able to connect it to the modem for the speakerphone part. he
- runs win3.11 and thinks he is going to get a el cheapo maxtec v/f/d/ modem and
- just buy a mike and he will be set (he's got a sound card and speakers already)
- Will he be able to do this and I'll have t eat crow or does he need more hardware?
- I think just buy a decent 28.8 modem and plug a speaker-phone, answer machine
- combo and caller id box into the modem phone side will work and sound better any
- way.
